schedule to check you are covered then contact us on our direct
claims line.
You will then be send a claim form which you should complete
with as much information as possible to help us deal with your
claim quickly and fairly. You should also read the section headed
Notification and Conduct of Claims in this wording. Finally, do not
hesitate to ask for advice, we are here to help you through this
process as much as we can.
Advice
Ensure that your sums insured are sufficient to cover all your
belongings - if you are underinsured then you are unlikely to be
fully covered for the value of your loss.
Write down the details of any loss/theft as soon as it happens -
it will help you recall events at a later date and help speed the
claims process.
Information requirements
In the event of a claim, insurers often require proof of
ownership and some supporting evidence for the claim. The
most common requirements are:
- Military uniform and equipment - A copy of the
charge form and payslip showing that the charges have been deducted
from salary
- Damaged civilian property - An estimate to
repair damaged items or written confirmation from a professional
dealer that the items are beyond repair. Photographs showing the
full extent of the damage are of great assistance
- Lost/stolen civilian property - Original
purchase receipts or instruction booklets/guarantees for electrical
goods/cameras etc
- Lost/stolen, general - It is a policy
condition that losses or thefts be reported to civilian, military
or regimental police. Please advise the name and full postal
address of the police authority concerned and the crime
